Core principles

The Brushfires Foundation operates according to a set of eight core principles. Together with our Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, and Position Statements, these principles guide everything we do.

Our first and most important principle is to serve the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and glorify the Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – in all that we do.

Our work is inspired and illuminated by Scripture. We believe that God’s truth as revealed in Scripture is for all people in all times. Every generation must work to translate God’s unchanging truth and transcendent love through words and actions into its unique cultural context, and we strive to do this throughout our work

We offer the same Gospel of hope and healing Jesus offered to the Samaritan woman at the well, the woman caught in adultery, and so many other sinners like ourselves. God’s grace and His gift of faith offer a new way of living that is inviting, fulfilling, and transformative. We approach sin and brokenness with respect for the Truth of God’s plan for human life and the blessed assurance of forgiveness contained in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We strive to mirror His grace in how we communicate these truths.

Knowing that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, we approach others in life with the same tenderness and compassion Jesus shows us in our own sinfulness. Sexual brokenness is more than personal sin. It also includes the wounds of original sin, which all have inherited, the sins others have committed against us, and the impact of living in a sexually toxic culture.

Sin and pain thrive in seclusion, making it very difficult to address or heal sexual brokenness in isolation. We are dedicated to building and sustaining healthy Christian communities where people learn to trust each other through radical honesty, vulnerability, and openness that can support individual and community healing.

Our aim is to collaborate with existing ministries doing excellent work in the area of sexual discipleship and Christian identity. As co-laborers, we hope to share the best of what they bring with our audience and offer our best to them in order to strengthen and multiply God’s redemptive action within the Church and throughout the larger culture.

We strive to be a visionary organization offering a comprehensive response to complex sexual issues. We approach our work with a long-term vision for change that anticipates challenges and patiently works toward lasting solutions.

We take seriously the Apostle Paul’s warning that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” We believe that the work we do is predominantly spiritual and must be grounded in the fervent prayers of faithful Christians.
